Bethesda Magazine Top Financial Professionals — 2022
In summer 2022, Bethesda Magazine sent a survey to hundreds of financial professionals in Montgomery County and Upper Northwest D.C. asking, “If you had a close friend or relative who needed financial planning advice, and you could not handle the case yourself, to whom would you refer them?” The 2022 list represents those who earned the greatest number of endorsements from their peers. Individuals were not allowed to nominate themselves. Bethesda Magazine fact-checked all nominees before notifying them that they were going to be listed in the November/December 2022 issue. There is no fee to be named one of Bethesda Magazine’s Top Financial Professionals.
Washingtonian Magazine: DC’s Best Financial Advisers — 2024, 2022, 2020
The Washingtonian surveys hundreds of area financial professionals during the preceding 4-6 months prior to publishing the award. The 2024 award was published in January 2024. The 2022 award was published in March 2022. The 2020 award was published in December 2020.
Fee-only advisers include certified financial planners who do not accept commissions or referral fees. To arrive at the names of the area’s 201 top financial advisers—the fee-only financial planners, fee-based advisers, estate attorneys, tax accountants, and insurance advisers marked with a “best adviser” tag—the Washingtonian distributed surveys to hundreds of people who work in the local financial industry, asking them whom they would trust with their own money. Washingtonian also did their own research, consulting industry experts and publications. The “best adviser” names on this list are the people who received the strongest recommendations.
Investopedia 100 Top Financial Advisor Awards — Summer 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023
Investopedia’s data science and editorial teams identify the top 100 independent financial advisors who demonstrate the most significant influence across digital publishing and social platforms, and who share insights that contribute to critical conversations about financial education and investing. The annual Investopedia 100 list honors financial advisors who have demonstrated top-of-the-industry skills in the following areas: Reach: Defined as digital presence across their own websites, social media, and other media platforms such as video and podcasts. Community support: Measured through peer nominations by industry professionals outside of their own firms. Commitment to financial literacy: Measured by the advisor’s participation in workshops, programs, nonprofits or collaboration with others in the community to spread financial education to those who need it most, as well as the creation of accessible content. Applications are checked for accuracy and quality, and final scores are tabulated according to weights designated for each of the criteria above by our data science team. Investopedia receives no compensation from placing advisors on our list, nor does an advisor’s appearance on our list constitute an individual endorsement by Investopedia of such advisor. The list is published each July.
